Xanadu: Meet Manzanar!

Low voter turnout did not interfere with a Republican sweep of the House, but apparently Sarah Palin did cost Republicans the Senate. So kudos to Mark McKinnon and Spencer Bachus for bringing that to the attention of Americans and Republicans, alike.

This election did and did not do a lot of things. In the case of the former, it highlighted to me that Obama, while pursuing a "centrist" agenda in fear of rocking the boat, has failed to define his presidency on any terms, and so there is a bevy of false claims made against him that weigh down this velcro-president. In the case of the latter, it did not make me feel good at all about voting.

I wanted to learn more about Laura Wells, but I fizzled out on the idea of people supporting a Central Bank of California, so I puppied up to Jerry Brown. My dog won. All other dogs in the race were shot immediately following.

I'll tell you what I like about Rand Paul: he's Libertarian in the ways that I am, and he's anti-torture, anti-war, and pro-marijuana. Plus he's Ron's kid, and Ron is (crazed) cool.

My new proposal: the Tea Party should be renamed the Sweet Tea Party.

My shocking new proposal: if we want a war against extremist Islam and Illegal Aliens, then we should reopen the internment camps at Manzanar, CA, and others like it. If we want a military war on two-fronts and an immigration war at home, we should consider all Muslims, persons of Arab descent, and Hispanics as enemies of the state to be detained and relocated under our watch and supervision in these internment camps. If we are not willing to do this then we don't actually recognize what it is that we've stumbled upon.

I'm not crazy about suggesting we do this. And suggesting we do this doesn't make me crazy. I'm getting to the point. The corporatized militarized political stooges, media pundits, and right-or-left-wing zealots are crazy for beating around this point. Gore and Kerry and Obama are crazy for having ignored this issue and the possibility of an American-style fascism to drive and direct our War on Terrorism. Let's have all the people who fear and hate foreigners and non-christians raise their hands so we can count them and know who they are, then let's put this resolution to a vote, and we'll see how many others (wolves in sheep's clothing) would vote for this resolution out of an addiction to fear-mongering.

There's just a few simple facts that we need to recognize as Americans... namely that we have substituted entertainment for knowledge, and we have optioned disguise over the ability to uphold our ideals.

Democrats regarded the 2008 election as a victory and a sweep. Republicans regard the 2010 election as a victory and a sweep. Perhaps both of these cadres need to tone down their own excitement for themselves and recognize that we, as citizens, have been played for suckers-- consistently, day-by-day over the past 2 years, 10 years, 20 years. We as citizens need to recognize that we're letting the entertainers and the corporate R&D departments play us all for the suckers that we are.

The machinations of fear rule the day, to be sure. But even still, the renewing strength of creative imagination out-soars the dismal fatalism of circumstance, and we all have the capacity to recognize the simplicity of our present condition. It is simply itself, America, and we can deal with it. We are simply ourselves, humans, and we can deal with each other. There is no conversation too difficult to have, and no outcome too brilliant to be worth fighting for.

Bling and gadgetry will not save us. Ignorant passivity will not defend us. Convenient scapegoating will not heal us. Outward aggression will not procure for us.

We have reached a time for a new age of (A) slavery, or (B) uncovering.
